Contrary to the accepted view that the political/ritual centre of Dvāravatī, the earliest city-state/“kingdom” of Thailand (6th-10thcentury CE), was located at Nakhon Pathom (central Thailand, 56 km west of Bangkok), Prof. Krairiksh, in 2021, has proposed that the most probable location of the Dvāravatī centre was the ancient city of Si Thep. His argument, based on art historical, archaeological, geographical, and epigraphic new evidences, will be the subject of the lecture.
